Joshua Ohlemacher For Texas State Representative District 71, 2025
The Challenge:
For this project, I developed a professional, user-friendly campaign website for Joshua Ohlemacher, a candidate for Texas State Representative, District 71. My responsibilities included end-to-end project planning, copywriting, responsive web design, and brand identity creation—including a custom campaign logo.
The primary objective was to build a digital platform that clearly communicates Joshua’s message, showcases his background and priorities, and provides visitors with intuitive ways to volunteer, donate, or connect with the campaign. While the subject matter was political, the design approach was rooted in best practices for modern web UX, high-performance SEO, and clean brand presentation.
The Results:
Design & Branding
The site design is anchored by a bold, recognizable campaign logo that I created specifically for this project. The palette uses Navy (#002147), Campaign Orange (#FF8200), white, and black—delivering a look that is professional, visually strong, and instantly identifiable.
Typography is clean and legible, pairing Playfair Display for headlines with Open Sans for body text, creating a balance of sophistication and clarity. Layouts are mobile-responsive and optimized for fast loading, with accessible color contrasts and clear content hierarchy.
User Experience (UX)
The UX focus was to guide visitors through the most important engagement points without friction. Key UX/UI decisions included:
Prominent navigation bar with sticky behavior for easy access to About, Issues, Volunteer, and Donate pages.
Strong call-to-action buttons placed strategically above the fold and repeated in high-intent sections.
Section-based storytelling on the homepage to keep users engaged without overwhelming them with text.
Consistent hero imagery across pages to reinforce brand identity and user recognition.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
To ensure the site is discoverable and competitive in search rankings, I implemented a full SEO strategy from the start:
Keyword research for local and campaign-related search terms.
Optimized meta titles, descriptions, and image alt text for all pages.
Clean HTML markup with semantic headings to improve crawlability.
Fast mobile performance scoring well on Core Web Vitals.
This SEO foundation positions the campaign to reach more constituents through organic search while ensuring a positive first impression when visitors land on the site.
